Euskara is the original name of Basque, a minority language which is spoken in Basque Country.

basque countryBasque spoken community is not property a state (despite of the fact that many people vigorously ask for it) but a region placed in a northeast of Spain and southwest of France in which is found a strong sentiment to recuperate this language: Euskara, the most ancient language of Europe.

Education is, of course, one of the most important point to take in consideration to spread the Basque language.
Ikastorratza is a blog to help to get this goal.Txomin Villarroel

I am Txomin Villarroel, developer and maintainer of this publication.
I am science teacher Teacher School of the University of the Basque Country and I have been working with teenager many years in La Salle Bilbao .
I use this online tool not only to improve the science knowledge but also, to introduce Basque in this Maths, Biology, Geology, Chemist and Physic disciplines.

In Basque, “ikasi” is a verb and it means “learn”, “get to know”.The word “orratza” can be as a compass. So, as you can see, "Ikastorratza" (the bolg's name) is a joke which tries to tell about something useful to orientate in the learning.

In this publication you can find photos and videos about the experiments that I usually show in my classes and, in the same way, you will look at many activities, thoughts, objectives and links that I usually propose to my students.experiment

Anyway, perhaps the most important aspect of this blog is that it is entirely elaborated in Basque, our antique language.
I would like this pages to be useful to you too, my English speaker friend.
I know that the language could be very strange to you.
Perhaps you could use this dictionary and, anyway, I would be very happy if you will get in touch with me in order to ask any doubt or, maybe, to develop any shared project.

I look forward to hearing from you!
